Hiking the Highlands Bowl in Aspen, ColoradoHiking the Highlands Bowl in the Aspen Snowmass ski resort was always big on my bucket list of things to do in Aspen.

One day, after the long cold winter that Colorado is well known for transitioned into Spring, my friend and I made it out and began the hike up for some Spring skiing.

We were in for quite the surprise as the view from the top was just breathtaking!

If you would like to see what it was like going down, be sure to watch my video snowboarding down the highlands bowl here.

But for now, enjoy this photo essay of my friend and I summiting the 12,000 foot Aspen Highlands Bowl and begin our sketchy descent down on just a snowboard and pair of skis before clocking in to work at the Gant Condo Resort later that afternoon.  What a great day to be on the mountain!

A nice surprise was in store for us once we got to the lift at the bottom of the run: complimentary barbecue for skiers and boarders.  After that long but satisfying hike, we got our grub and called it a day by skiing down to the base of the mountain.

If given the opportunity, would you hike the Aspen Highlands Bowl in Colorado?
