The beer has always been a thing I’ve been passionate about. After all, who doesn’t like a good beer?

Personally, you give me a nice crisp lager on a warm day and you might as well put me on a beach in Hawaii.

These were exactly my thoughts as I made a stop in Milwaukee along my MidWest road trip.

While CouchSurfing at some locals house, one of the main recommendations they gave me to do in Milwaukee was to check out the brewery scene…so Torin and I did just that. Getting the hook up from the local Bublr bike rental company, we began to cruise over to LakeFront Brewery where we lucked out on a tour that started within 15 minutes of our arrival – that’s pretty much when the show began. 😉

The LakeFront Brewery Tour

Inside the brewery, there was a small buzz of excitement from the locals & visitors waiting for the tour behind scenes. As Torin and I collected our beer tokens, filled our cups and snapped some pics we readied off the tour to begin.

Cups filled to the brim, we were then shepherded through the tour door, down a hallway and into a small room where the beginning of our tour began. Our guide, Josh, then continued to give us one hell of a funny tour into the live brewery.

Making it down the stairs and onto the ground floor, Josh walked us through the steps that required to make beer. From malting and mashing to the fermentation process, he left no stone unturned when providing details for their process.

It truly was fascinating at exactly how much beer was being created right before my eyes. Walking through a live plant is something I’ve always wanted to do especially since I’ve spent some time back in my hometown of Florida creating my own craft beers…on a much smaller scale of course.

Getting towards the end of the production side of things, LakeFront Brewery had another stand set up where we could get refills on beer. These guys sure left no details behind in making sure that we had a blast during our journey through the factory.

Next up on the list, after getting our refills, of course, was the aging, bottling and packing process.

It was very obvious that everyone here had a very deep passion for working with beer. After all, who wouldn’t? Just like my passion for travel, there are a million different way stop experience “beer culture” whether it be traveling for beer festivals or creating different flavors & styles of beer.

At the end of the tour, properly buzzed and hardly confused, we ended with a chant to celebrate everyone’s affection for the beer consumed by each and everyone on the trip.

Needless to say, between Josh’s hysterical shenanigans yet professional demeanor, I would highly recommend visiting the LakeFront Brewery to experience the tour first hand if you ever find yourself in Milwaukee! 🙂
