Top 10: Bucket List Ideas for Extreme SportsAs an overseas adventure travel enthusiast, I’ve always been a big fan of adding extreme sports to my collection of bucket list ideas.

Between my experience skydiving on numerous occasions, my rock climbing expeditions, and of course jet skiing along the Paradise Coast of Florida, I can say I enjoy taking the time to get my adrenaline pumping.

If you’re really into getting extreme, you could even go as far as making bets at sites based around the world.  Of course, this wouldn’t be a legal practice in most places around North America; but that doesn’t stop people from gambling in Las Vegas now does it..?

But I digress – take a look at these top 10 outdoor adventure sports that I think you should add to your selection of bucket list ideas!

Adventure Sports Bucket List Ideas

1.) Skydiving

Skydiving is the first extreme sport that got me hooked onto being an adrenaline junkie.

Having jumped out of planes quite a few times all across North America, this is certainly something you must add onto your bucket list at least once in your life.  My advice to you is to 1.) pick somewhere scenic to jump, and 2.) don’t forget to plan your day around it to get the most out of your vacation!

2.) Rock Climbing

Rock climbing is certainly a favorite past time of mine.  Is there really a better way to push yourself than scaling the face of a huge rock wall?

Of course, if you’re not fully trained to go at it with a friend by yourselves, you can always take various overseas tours.  Just remember to double check all of your gear and ensure it’s in close to new condition…some places around the world can be pretty sketchy with their equipment.

3.) Kayaking or Canoeing

Kayaking, whether it be in white water, in the ocean, on a lake, or in a creek, is a lot of fun.

This is a perfect activity for those who are both novice and skilled in the sport.  Simply rent your kayak, find the place you’d like to put in, and start paddling out.  It’s a great budget friendly alternative to exploring a destination and will give you an insight to the fabulous wildlife of a region.

4.) Canyoning

As mentioned in my top 5 adventurous activities to do in the UK, canyoning is offered all around the world and is something I highly recommend you experience.

Slipping and sliding through small creeks, scaling the face of an active waterfall, all the while exploring the deepest trenches of a canyon is something you’ll remember for the rest of your life.  If you’ve never done it before, don’t think twice about it – book your adventure and just go!

5.) White Water Rafting

Amongst the number of bucket list ideas named on this list, I can honestly say I love white water rafting.

I’ve been on numerous occasions, both of my favorite trips being along the Kali Gandaki river in Nepal as well as with Alpine Rafting in Alberta Canada.  Just remember that, whether you be whitewater rafting in glacial melt off or in the tropics, always carry extra clothing, lots of beer, and lots of food for the overnight trips!

6.) Zip Lining

Between the experience zip lining over massive canyons in Florida, the Gibbon Experience in Southeast Asia, and my years of experience working as a zip lining guide while living in West Virginia, all I have to say is go.

Zip lining is a fantastic buck list idea that borders the extreme because it not only gives you the practical knowledge of understanding what it feels like to fly like a toucan (after all, your are flying from tree to tree), but you get a big adrenaline rush as you’re head is literally inches from a metal cable as you zip on by trees at 50-60 mph…is that too close to comfort for you?

7.) Bouldering

Boulder Mountain Rock Climbing

If you’re not at the point to go rock climbing, then you should try out bouldering.

Bouldering require a lot less gear than rock climbing does – simply grab a pair of climbing shoes, a chalk bag, a pad, and you’re ready to go.  You can literally climb as high as you’re comfortable climbing and it offers a wicked workout to help your muscles get in the proper shape for climbing.

8.) Kite Surfing

Are you fond of water sports, flying up to 50 or 60 feet in the air, and enjoy being in tropical paradises?  Then you should definitely try out kitesurfing.  A very popular adventure sport in Maui, all you need is the gear, some enthusiasm, and a little wind.  After that, simply get out there and learn!

9.) Snowmobiling

Living in Aspen for over 3 years, I never said no to an opportunity when it came to snowmobiling.  It gives you a great opportunity to explore the backcountry, take epic images of nature, and for those wanting a bit more of a rush, you can practice your tricks on a snowmobile.

This is, after all, what they do in the Winter X Games every year.

10.) Mountain Biking

If there’s just one activity you take from this post, you MUST add mountain biking to your collection of bucket list ideas.  In particular, downhill mountain biking.  There’s nothing quite like biking downhill, taking in the scenery, pushing yourself on the trails, and making a few jumps to get a little air time in!
